I walked just over 9 laps in 41 minutes 30 seconds with a 918-gram baseball bat on my chin. I fought the sun in my eyes and disorientation in my brain. I walked away with another Guinness World Records title.
The mark to beat was 3,000 meters and I went 3,600 (plus the extra distance from walking in lanes 2-7 that didn’t count).
My wife gave me verbal directions and I walked around the track so I knew where I was by calling out lanes 1-8 as I walked into them and told me when I started the curves and the straight-aways. Sometimes I could see the bleachers, press box, or scoreboard as a reference point, but for the most part, I was reliant on her.
