This week tens of thousands of students, family members, mentors, and spectators will descend on the St. Louis America center for FIRST Robots East nationals – the premier youth robotics program national championship.
As part of the festivities, I’m going to attempt to break 2 Guinness World Records on the same day (it may be 3 in only 2 attempts… check back on that later). I’m going to give an inspirational show from 9:30-10:30 AM on Friday the 28th in the Ferrara Theater and attempt to set the mark for “most juggling catches in 1 minute blindfolded (3 balls)” to maintain the title of “World’s Fastest Blindfolded Juggler”. The current record is 364 catches in 1 minute. I think you may be able to live-stream my presentation here: https://www.twitch.tv/firstinspires_conferences
Then, to get the students involved, from Noon to 1 PM on Friday, I’m going to attempt to set the mark for “Most selfies in 1 hour” by taking a selfie with over 1,449 different people in 1 hour in Exhibit Hall 2. My arms will get tired, but I’ve been lifting weights to prepare for this attempt.
FIRST is For Inspiration and Recognition of Science and Technology and their mission and mine line right up. To be a part of this event is a great honor. After I’m done with my presentations, I’m going to spend some quality time watching these robots compete – it is exciting!
